[mrtg] First install, having some config troubles

Be gentle on me, this was the first time I ever have built and compiled
anything :-)

System:
OS X 10.3.3 with LinkSys 8 port router/switch

After building up MRTG and getting it running, I now have a page that has
some very nice reporting on it.

My first area of confusion is in use of the indexmaker tool, I ran it and it
made a index page, is this something I only need to do once, it does seem
this page is updated every 5 minutes when I tell cron to update the
/usr/local/mrtg-2/bin/mrtg /Library/WebServer/mrtg/cfg/192.168.1.1.cfg The
part that is confusing to me is that this page is in fact updated with new
data to it, yes I never ever run indexmaker ever again.

I have 2 images on the main page I load, they are sitting horizontally,
seeing as how I will never add any more reports to this page, can I get them
to be stacked vertically?

Somehow, MRTG seems to have polled my router and set the Max Speed to 10.0
Mbits/s.
First, how did it do this?
Second, why in the cfg file is MaxBytes[192.168.1.1_1]: 1250000 set to
that value, how does this translate to 10.0 Mbit/s?
Third, is that even accurate, this is a 10/100 switch?

Finally, I have a comcast internet connection, so I think it would be better
suited to set the outside connection to 3.0Mbits/s since that is the lines
max capacity, the inside connection should be set to 100Mbits/s ?

My reports say
Traffic Analysis for 1 -- none
Traffic Analysis for 2 -- none

What do other reports generally say in this line and how can I get mine to
be filled in with something nicer to read? I also have System:
none in - as well, and wonder what that should be set to.

What will I need to do if Comcast renews my DHCP IP, will this break?

thanks
