[mrtg] Script issues...

I created a simple script that spits out the number of open smb 
processes on a given server as

server:~/bin root# ./smbusers
50
0

I then added the following to my mrtg cfg file:

Target[smb]: `sh /var/root/bin/smbusers`
RouterUptime[smb]: mrtg at myhost
MaxBytes[smb]: 100
Title[smb]: Samaba Users
PageTop[smb]: <H1>Samba Users</H1>
Unscaled[smb]: ymwd
ShortLegend[smb]: Users
YLegend[smb]: Samaba Users
Options[smb]: growright,nopercent,nolegend,nobanner

The problem is that after an hour and multiple manual runs of mrtg the 
graphs still show flatline 0's.

I am sure I am missing something obvious here.  Any ideas??
