This sounds familiar. I suggest that you examine the access rights
(privileges) of your script, directories & the cron user in question.

Subject: [mrtg] problem about External Monitoring Scripts
hey, this time I applied an external monitoring script to monitor a single
value that snmp can't provide directly. when I ran mrtg to generate the
data for the
target log manully, it appeared very good, and I could browse the right
graph from IE with the right target name and system uptime. but when the
mrtg was
automatically run by crontab, all data of target log turned 1 or -1, and
target name and system uptime of IE became unknown, the graph could tell
nothing but
wrong data. when i manully ran the task of crontab, all things seemed ok
again.
Could anybody tell me why it would be that? Is there anything I should be
careful? Thanks a lot!
