[mrtg] can't do threshold checking for target xxx.xxx.com

I've just installed MRTG 2.11.1 and RRDTool 1.2.1.  

I'm getting the following message repeatedly when I use the command
(perl -w mrtg mrtg_ups_temp_probe.cfg):

WARNING: can't do threshold checking for target xxx.xxx.com_1(i) -- No
valid current data

This has been running for a couple days now.  There are several RRD DB
Files in the appropriate directory but I'm still getting this message.
Any ideas?  Thanks.
