Rob,

The best thing for you to do is create a master .cfg file that contains
"Includes" to your individual cfg files (that you will create for each
device). For example:

master.cfg
-------------
.
.
.
Include: /usr/local/mrtg/cfgs/device1.cfg
Include: /usr/local/mrtg/cfgs/device2.cfg
Include: /usr/local/mrtg/cfgs/device3.cfg

Then have each "Include" be a single device cfg file. This will allow
you to have the daemon run against only one file (your master.cfg) and
not have to run it against each individual device cfg.

Check out this site:

I hope this helps.

here are my questions.

1. do i use a new .cfg file for each new device or will the new
devices
append to the original .cfg file?

2. if yes i need multiple .cfg's, do i need to have a daemon run
against each .cfg? multiple instances?

thanks in advance...i hope i asked that correctly.
