[mrtg] using vlanTrunkPortDynamicStatus in filters

I'm considering adding vlanTrunkPortDynamicStatus to my copy of cfgmaker
so that I can use filters and templates that can determine if a link is
a trunk.  Would this be of general interest to the MRTG community, or
should I just poll for that variable inside my template and save myself
a lot of integration work?
