Logs on the sonicwall?  Increase verbosity of debugging level?>

Syslog?

Access list counts incrementing?

Show statistics?

Does the Sonicwall have an ARP entry for the MRTG box (assuming same 
segment) ?

SNMP is stateless, so if an ACL is applied to the service or the community 
is wrong, no error notification packets will be sent.
