X is the interface number in the SNMP MIB, which will change if you add
extra interfaces to the device.

The file name is, I believe, taken from the MRTG Target[] name, and so in
order to change it you would have to change the code for cfgmaker to name
the targets in a different way (taking into account when this information is
not available)
