[mrtg] Layer 2 physical ethernet port

Hello, All

As it name implied, MRTG, Multi Router Traffic Grapher.  Does it only
works on routers and layer 3 IP interfaces?  Can it also works on layer
2 physical ethernet ports with no IP addresses?

What can I use to gather traffic at layer 2 physical ethernet ports
like what MRTG does?

Any idea is very much appreciated, thanks.
