Gents,

Need a piece of advice for running MRTG with Win 2003.

I have 80 devices and increasing (like Cisco Routers, PIX, Switches and
Servers) that I have to monitor 24x7. Now I am running MRTG on Windows 2003.

My MRTG system always has 80 command prompt sessions open. When I update and
patch the server OS, restart the server- I need to run these 80 sessions one
by one (all over again).

1. Is there a way (maybe GUI) that I can use MRTG and work for these 80
sessions?
2. Maybe some batch file script that would run all of them in a single go?
3. How can I use RRD with MRTG to determine temp, disk, cpu?

Thanks in advance,
Akash Bhardwaj

Hi,

Is there a way with mrtg to graph more than 2
different values? I have 4 different values I want all
on the same graph, how do I do that with mrtg?

Thanks,
Brian

Hi all,

I'm unable to configure MRTG to work with SNMPv3. I'm using mrtg-2.15 on a
WXP machine, and when I try to make the cfg file with cfgmaker:

perl cfgmaker --global "EnableSnmpV3: yes" --username="mrtg"
IP.IP.IP.IP:::::3  (the easiest configuration)

I get this error:
--base: SNMP V3 libraries found, SNMP V3 enabled.
Undefined subroutine &main::snmpmapOID called at cfgmaker line 1497.

If, for example, I try to do a snmpwalk from netsnmp, I get the result
perfectly.

I've also tried to make the config myself this way:

EnableSnmpv3: yes

######### ddd ############

Target[IP.IP.IP.IP_1]: 1:IP.IP.IP.IP:::::3
SnmpOptions[IP.IP.IP.IP_1]: username=>"mrtg"
        <div>
        </div>

workdir: d:\mrtg_www

But unfortunately I get another error:

2007-01-31 16:29:00: ERROR: Target[IP.IP.IP.IP_1][_IN_]
'1:IP.IP.IP.IP:::::3' (warn): Bareword "IP.IP.IP.IP::::" refers to
nonexistent package at (eval 16) line 1.
2007-01-31 16:29:00: ERROR: Target[IP.IP.IP.IP_1][_OUT_]
'1:IP.IP.IP.IP:::::3' (warn): Bareword "IP.IP.IP.IP::::" refers to
nonexistent package at (eval 17) line 1.

Can anybody help?

Thanks a lot

Hello -

Do you have host authorization enabled on the switch(es)? If so, then
assuming you are running this on a different host than the others,
you need to add the new IP to the host tables.

If you are using routers2 as your frontend to MRTG/RRD then you can
define a UserDefined graph over the top of two or more Targets, thus
getting all 4 variables on the same graph either as separate lines or as
stacked areas.

Steve

(I seem to have been advertising routers2 a bit frequently recently...)

Hi list,

is it possible to make mrtg report the traffic of certain IP address range
instead of interface utilization? If so, how can it be done?

Many thanks

Pak,

In general the answer is no.
The reason: Most devices don't keep track of this sort of counters.

Dear all,

I installed mrtg and compiled it well but now the problem is with cfgmaker
as in the guides I issued the cfgmaker --globaldir etc etc command but
there isn't any executable for cfgmaker and indexmaker but there are
scripts of them can anybody guide me how to make the executables out of
the scripts or can I use the scripts for the purpose.....I mean when I
used the scripts to create the mrtg configuration files it worked well but
had i had the executables it would have been more easier and one more
thing I need to know is i have to keep the logs and the HTML files in the
html directory and the respective configuration files can they be placed
anywhere i like??
