[mrtg] Serial interface not reporting activity.

We recently upgraded the port speed on a remote router from 256k to
512k and since doing so we no longer get anything on the graphs and rrd
is reporting all zero from what I can tell. I need your help

Since this problem started last week I have taken the following action
to correct it but thus far nothing has helped.
1. ran script to create a new config ( this is standard process after a
port speed up grade)
2. copied the rrd file for this interface to .old
3 deleted the rrd file for this interface and watched to make sure mrtg
was rebuilding it.
4. did an rrdtool dump filename.rrd to xml file and looked for data
records.
5. on another computer performed an snmpget 10.X.Y.254
interfaces.ifTable.ifEntry.ifOutOctets.1 several times to verify that
this counter was going up on the router.

What am I missing, I have been doing this same task for several years
and am running fairly current software for all components.

Here is the config for this interface.

Addresses and community strings have been changed for security.
