[mrtg] graphing an OID

My community string is all lower alpha characters (a-z).

The format for a custom OID should be:

 

Target[ezwf]: 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.2.1.57.0&1.3.6.1.4.1.9.2.1.58.0:xxxxx at device

 

There are characters in a community string that may need to be escaped.
Are 

you using all A-Z characters, or are there special characters (like @ or
&) in 

the string.  There is a mention on the MRTG website about characters
that 

need some TLC when in the Target line of the config file.

Try adding a 0 to the end, and also put the . back at the front of the
OID.

I am not able to turn an snmpget command that works into a working
graph. I'm sure there is a relatively simple answer/fix to what I am
doing wrong. SNMPGET returns:

[root at ns1 cfg]# snmpget -v 1 -c ##### 1.1.12.250
.1.3.6.1.4.1.16174.1.1.3.3.1.3.0
SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.16174.1.1.3.3.1.3.0 = STRING: "80.5"

In my MRTG config I have:

Target[OutsideTemp]:
.1.3.6.1.4.1.16174.1.1.3.3.1.3.0&.1.3.6.1.4.1.16174.1.1.3.3.1.3.0:#####@
1.1.12.250

I can also change the 1.3.0 to 1.4.0 to get an INTERGER but I'm not sure
that matters with my issue. Any help?
