It may not be what you want, but in the 'extras' directory shipped with
routers2 ( http://www.steveshipway.org/software ) there is a utility
cfgmaker_host.pl which attempts to probe a specified host for various
SNMP OIDS, and then builds a cfg file from the discovered information.
It is not perfect - some things are not handled, some MIBs are not
recognised, and the build configuration uses some routers2 extensions,
but it might be of assistance.
