[mrtg] adding "logscale" option after a while

I've been a happy MRTG user for quite a few years now.

I've been graphing some new interfaces for a few days now and see that the
typical traffic level is about 100-300k
with brief peaks of 40Mpbs. Clearly a case for logscale! So I edited the config
to add the logscale
option and nothing has changed. Is there something else I need to do? (I'm
fearing answers like "throw
away all your current data" I guess.)

I've looked in the archives but don't see anything.
