> I'm trying to setup MRTG on a single 3Com 3824 with the identical SNMP setup as my other monitored 3Com switches. However, this particular switch keeps erroring out whenever I try to create the config file. The error I receive is the following:
Are you sure that the firmware is identical.
We recently bought a new Cisco switch, which had newer firmware, but was for the rest similar to our other switches.
The config maker failed for this switch.
It turned out that the SNMP OID numbers were different for the new sitches. port 1 is not on 1.3.6.1.2.1.1 but on 1.3.6.1.2.1.10101, etc.
So, in the MRTG configuration we had to add 10100 to all port numbers, compared to other switches.
