[mrtg] .log files gets reset automatically

Do you have any periodic cronjobs running on your server that look for (and delete) any and all *.log files? If so, they'd be deleted, and the next run of MRTG would recreate them as empty.

If you do have such a job, severely... re-educate... the person who wrote it, since doing a "find / -name *.log -exec rm {} \;" is just stupid coding. It should be restricted to a specific tree that is known to be safe.

For the last 2-3 months at midnight Central Time (GMT+6) I started havind some of my .log files started to be reset without my intention. Is there a reason for that? I assumed first because my .log file size reaches a limit but some of the .log files arent't even 100K big.

What could be reason of having my .log files to reset as they are run first time? thanks
