[mrtg] error while trying to config a Mcdata 4700.........

It's all in the error.  From your config file:
Target[McData_port21]:11.3.6.1.4.1.289.2.1.1.2.3.1.1.44.21

Notice the 11.3.6.1.4.  It should be 1.3.6.1.4.

Port 19 works Ok, 20 and 20+ all give that error.......
