The --if-filter option parameter is in fact a Perl code snippet, which is why you're getting the error.  Pavel has already beaten me to the post by giving you a working example, so I won't repeat it here.

I'll also put a quick plug in here for the book http://www.steveshipway.org/book , and also remind people that we're holding a BoF session for MRTG at LISA10 in San Jose this year, if you want to turn up and ask some difficult questions or learn some cool tricks.

Hi,
I am trying to exclude interfaces named vlan xxx from my MRTG configuration files.
I have tried cfgmaker --if-filter='vlan' but it says: ERROR: with if-filter vlan: Bareword "vlan" not allowed while "strict subs" in use at (eval 6) line 1. does anyone have an example of how to do this handy?
