I'm not certain what you are asking.  Are you wanting to monitor a DNS
server using mrtg, or do you want MRTG to query a different nameserver that
the other processes on the host, or do you want to build a local caching DNS
server on the same box as the MRTG polling process to minimize DNS sessions
to an external resolver during the polling cycle?
