[mrtg] Need help with mrtg-traffic-sum

hi, just install MRTG recently(early this week) on a Centos 7; And found out today we could view the summary of the total bandwidth used with this command - mrtg-traffic-sum [options...] config-file
but after running, it will show '0'. we suspect it did not found the log file or something as it must at least show us something before '0'.
we are not Linux people, so not familiar with its file location/path. after searching online, this is the command we use -
cd /etc/mrtg/mrtg-traffic-sum mrtg.cfg
