watch out for zeroes.  The perl code used to say something like:
if ($threshinval) and ($valuein >= $threshinval) {do stuff}

The result is that a zero threshhold is the same as not defining a
threshhold.

At least, that was the case a few versions of code back - I haven't looked
to see what Tobi has done to the threshhold code lately.
