Good Day to all the memebers in this list.

Actually I am stuck in a problem and I need your help 
desperately.

I intend to generate mails to the administrator whenever any of 
the interface goes down in a router.I have been using MRTG 
successfully to configure my router and plot graphs for its 
usage.
For generating the graphs I have read about threshold vaues, but 
these values are for input and output rate, and then calls the 
external program to use SMTP to send mails.But it doesnt respond 
to tell if the interface is now down and then generate mails.

Can anyone help me to suggest how can I make my program call the 
other module on this condition(how to trap this event, basically) 
and generate mails.
