A have those warnings on Mac OS X but not on Solaris 2.6, so it seems to
be platform specific. Which version of (g)cc does you use, and what
platform?

My Mac OS X:
Darwin Kernel Version 5.3: Thu Jan 24 22:06:02 PST 2002;
root:xnu/xnu-201.19.obj~1/RELEASE_PPC
cc --version: 2.95.2 (Apple's hacked version with ObjC support)

My Solaris:
SunOS calvin 5.6 Generic_105181-26 sun4u sparc
gcc --version: 2.95.2
