[rrd-developers] on the road to 1.4rc

Still working on getting 1.4rc out ... over the last two days I
worked on the build process. We are now using automake 1.11 which
gives us a much less clutterd output on screen, so that compiler
warnings are more visible

I also switched the i18n support from intltoolize to autopoint
since this is nicely supported by the autotools and more "GNU".

the snapshots on the website are up to date if you want to give it
a whirl.
