[rrd-users] Unexpected peak in the data?

Hello everbody!

This morning I found an unexpected high peak in the database wich
stores the outgoing traffic of my interface. It says that there was
an output with about 40 MBytes per second on the interface eth0.
But I know this couldn't happen, because this Ethernet card is only an
10Mbps. How can this happen and how can I avoid this?
I use Linux 2.2.13 with the rrdtool version 1.0.17.

Any comments?

Andreas.
