You might consider a gauge for this.  Just grep the value from the same
place where you keep your other configurable stuff.  This way, if you
change the value it is recorded in the database and you are able to
do the proper math.  The downside is that you have to modify the
databases and config files once; also your databases will be bigger.

If not useful, at least you got your 2 cents back :)
