And the version 1.0.24 runs with perl 5.004_01?

		yes but the limit should be more in the region of 2 billion
rrds
		... 

		can you modify one of the scripts in the example dir to
exhibit the
		behaviour ... and make sure you are using the latest rrdtool
		(1.0.24)
