So, that too looks OK.  Time for some drastic measures:
start with dumping the file to (sort of) human readable format:
    rrdtool dump data2.rrd > data2.xml

Now you can check that the data is actually available.  If it is,
and anything else fails, recompile the code and add some debugging
lines.  Maybe this shows what's failing.  If you have to go this way
I'll assist off the list but please make sure the xml file does indeed
contain the data you seek.
