[rrd-users] Which numbers to trust?

Hello,

I'm looking at RRD to update a long-existing install of MRTG. I have a few
interfaces set up to be polled by a RRD test machine, and I'm comparing its
results to the MRTG graphs. What I'm finding so far is that the two graphs
appear very near alike, but the Y-axis numbers seem off. The RRD graphs
report higher numbers; where MRTG will show something like 164Kbps, RRD
shows the same peak as nearly 380Kbps. Both systems are pulling ifOutOctets
every 5 minutes, and multiplying the result by 8 to get bits/sec (i.e.
"CDEF:myoutput=output,8,*"). Did anyone else experience differences between
the two after changing over?

Regards,
Mark
