[rrd-users] RRD Usage Query

I am concerned...

I'm trying to track mail transit time using RRD. At first it looked like it
would work pretty well. I'm able to update the tables pretty successfully
using ("gasp!") VBScript. However, I have a concern about how the graph will
look and how to tell what I'm getting out of the graph.

My front-end sends a test message every 5 minutes with a return receipt
requested. The subject line has the time (in seconds) that the message was
sent. On receiving the message, I parse the subject line to find the sent
time, subtract the received time and rrdtool UPDATE the appropriate file
(Elapsed time is defined as a GAUGE). So far so good.

What I'm concerned about is the interpolation of the the Elapsed times. If I
the sent time is off, how does RRDTool interpolate on a GAUGE.... or does
it?

I also would like to know if the NT compiled version can be defined not to
make that annoying CMD screen pop-up every time it is invoked!?! Ahh...
well, that may be wishful thinking.
