Folks,
As you may know, rrdtool also has a developers mailing list.
On this list the future of RRDtool is discussed. If you're
interested in these discussions, please subscribe. Also, if
you want to try new functionality of RRDtool it is highly
recommended you subscribe to that list.
If you want to try out the new code please be aware that this
*may* be *unstable* code, full of bugs, documentation that isn't
quite correct etcetera.
For those of you that are not discouraged by this mail, please
subscribe to the developers list now and get your copy of the
alpha code as per instructions below.
This letter will be followed by one more, describing some new
features. After this, no more discussion on the new rrdtool
should take place here and you are expected to use the developers
list for comments or contributions.
cheers,
Alex
To subscribe to rrd-developers:
mailto:rrd-developers-request at list.ee.ethz.ch?subject=subscribe
To fetch the new code you need to use CVS. If you don't know what
cvs is, even after searching for it in your documentation and/or
on the web, the 1.1.x code is probably not ment to be for you.
You also need recent automake, autoconf and libtool installed.
(long lines wrapped for readability)
Login to the cvs system at ethz.ch, using password "anonymous":
cvs -d :pserver:anonymous at drwho.ee.ethz.ch:\
/usr/drwo/vault/cvs/rrdtool login
Fetch the program code and the contrib stuff:
cvs -d :pserver:anonymous at drwho.ee.ethz.ch:\
/usr/drwo/vault/cvs/rrdtool checkout program
cvs -d :pserver:anonymous at drwho.ee.ethz.ch:\
/usr/drwo/vault/cvs/rrdtool checkout contrib
First cd to the program directory then create the Makefiles:
./MakeMakefile
Configure RRDtool for your system:
./configure
Compile RRDtool:
make
