Thanks for quick response.
What happens if later on I update the other DS's for that timestamp. Will
this cause any problems or just replace the NaN.

rrdtool update my.rrd -t item1 983821590:2286

Also, note that all other DS's for that time, will be recorded
as NaN's.  You can't _really_ update just one DS.
