[rrd-users] Re: CF confusion, and not average/ratio

Hello again.
First of all thanks for answering my newbie question.
I read all the mrtg faqs, and i understood how things
works.
Ok..like the mrtg faqs explain the values actually
stored, and printed are not the "real" values i send
to rrdtool/mrtg, are in fact averages.

>From the Resampling section, of the "How does the MRTG
Works" FAQ, i took the conclusion that maybe i can use
RRD to actually stores and show/graph the values i
actually sent, and not averages. Lemme try to explain
what i think i have to do, in order to achieve this:

-Use DST=GAUGE
-DO RRDTOOL Updates with the timestamp specified
exactly equal to the timestamp of the start of each
timeslot.
DO just one Update for each timeslot.
THis way i would force RRDTOOL to stores exactly the
value i sent, and not a average

I am not sure if i am thinking right, but i would
appreciate suggestions/comments.

Anyway, i am planning to use 4 different kinds of
graphs, day/week/month/year. I am not worried in
rrdtool calculating averages for week/month/year, but
for daily graphs, i want exactly what i sent, in order
to observe all the peaks occured. I can guess the
peaks would be absorved by the average being
calculated with previous values.

Sorry for the long message, hope anyone can comment my
thoughts and maybe point me to a correct direction.

Thanks alot.
