Hi,

You should check the mail archives - long discussions about this.

When creating the rrd, use DERIVE for counter and set the min to 0 and the
max to the maximum possible on that link (in octets)

You could use killspike in the contrib directory or dump the file to xml
and remove the peaks yourself
