Hi Johan,

i think the problem is the following:

you used perl from the porting center. This is perl version is ported with
an hp-ux compiler. If you compile perl with gcc and then compile rrd with
gcc everything will work fine.

Ciao

Hello,

We have tried to install RRDtool 1.0.33 on a HP-UX 11.00 system,
without success.

Components which were installed first:
   binutils-2.11.2 -> /opt/binutils
   gcc-3.0.1       -> /opt/gcc
   make-3.79.1     -> /opt/make
   perl-5.6.1      -> /opt/perl5

Installation of RRDtool:

   export
PATH=/opt/gcc/bin:/opt/binutils/bin:/opt/perl5/bin:/opt/make/bin:$PATH

   cd /var/tmp/hecou/rrdtool-1.0.33

   sh configure --prefix=/opt/rrd/bin --enable-shared

   gmake

=> LD_RUN_PATH="" ld  -b -s -a shared RRDs.o -L../src/.libs/ -lrrd_private
      -lm -o blib/arch/auto/RRDs/RRDs.sl

      ld: Can't find library: "rrd_private"

      gmake[2]: *** [blib/arch/auto/RRDs/RRDs.sl] Error 1

      gmake[2]: Leaving directory
`/var/tmp/hecou/rrdtool-1.0.33/perl-shared'
      gmake[1]: *** [perl_shared] Error 2

      gmake[1]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/hecou/rrdtool-1.0.33'

      gmake: *** [all-recursive] Error 1

I hope somebody can help me, because our unix system engineers are
threatning
to kill my CPU-consuming MRTG processes!
