>From your original description, it sounded like you were storing your
ongoing records via an external to rrd mechanism and creating the rrd on
the fly to generate a graph...  if that is true, why not just create a
new rrd for each graph and delete it when finished...  if that's not
true, why are you filling in an rrd just because someone wants a graph,
shouldn't the data you want already be in the rrd and all you need to do
is graph it?
