sorry for the unclarity, serge.

anyway, i just noticed that the daily graph is scaled for gigabits (0 - 70),
whereas the hourly is scaled for megabits (0 - 350), due to a big spike that
occurred several days ago. "rrdtool info" applied to the relevant rrd's did
not come up empty. none of the hourly registers on the daily because it is
simply too small.

thx for your helpfulness.

:That was not clear to me from your mail.
:
:We cannot answer the question without knowing what you use to generate your graphs or how your rrd database is setup. Do a rrdtool info to see whether you have a daily rra or do a rrdtool dump tosee if the daily rra contains data.

:i may be obtuse, but i don't see how that accounts for the fact that the daily
:graph doesn't display *any* of the data of the hourly graph. it's just blank.

::Remember that the daily rra is an average of more than one primary data point.
::
::Consider this scenario:
::- The hourly graph uses 1 minute samples
::- The daily graph uses 5 minute samples
::- The 1 minute samples alternate between 0 and 50
::
::In this scenario the daily graph will show samples of 20 ( =(0+50+0+50+0)/5 ).
::
::You can define a max rra instead of an average rra if that's more to your likings.
