[rrd-users] Re: RRDTool migration

I found this email on the subject:

http://www.ee.ethz.ch/~slist/rrd-users/msg02707.html

So it seems that clearly my problem is a version conflict. So I can
downgrade my rrd on my Linux box to the same version as I have on my NT
box. But what will happen when I then try to roll back up to the current
version on my Linux box?

Subject: [rrd-users] RRDTool migration

I'm working on migrating my MRTG/RRDTool infrastructure from my Win2k
Pro systems to Redhat 7.3. Everything is working great with one
exception. I am having difficulties with transferring the data. My guess
is it's related to a compatability problem with the versions of rrdtool,
or I may not be paying close enough attention that I'm transferring the
file right (binary or ascii when I ftp?).

Where's what I have:
Win2k Pro: rrdtol version 1.0.24
I run rrdtool export file.rrd file.xml

Then I ftp it over

Then on Linux Redhat 7.3: rrdtool version 1.0.39
Rrdtool restore file.xml file.rrd

Error message: ERROR: No <xff> tag found

My guess is this is documented somewhere but I can't find it.. Please
help! ;)
