[rrd-users] mrtg with rrdtool

I am still pretty knew to this so if anyone can I would appreciate it. 
I am trying to setup mrtg to use rrdtool.  I have changed the values in
the config file.  Now when i run perl mrtg mrtg.cfg i get the following
error:
ERROR: Target[ip address][_IN_] ' $$target[1]{$mode} ' (warn): Use of
uninitialized value in substitution (s//) at D:/Perl/lib/Math/BigInt.pm
line 68.

ip address is the actually IP ADDRESS of router not the word.

hope someone can help
