I went ahead and fixed it myself. It works great now.

You can download the working version here:
http://www.steilproject.com/files/add_ds.zip

Just as a note, I have a bunch of the possible <key>value</key> strings hard
coded in so that anyone editing it could easily set the default values of
them to something other than $default_val.

I hope someone finds this useful.

Subject: [rrd-users] anyone have a working add datasource script?

I am trying to use the add_ds script that comes in the /contrib.directory of
some rrd distributions with rrdtool 1.1.x from CVS, but I get nothing but
errors.

[cricket at sdt-platlog1 add_ds]$ echo 'subscription.rrd' | ./batch.pl 1

can't make directory xml at ./batch.pl line 62.

[cricket at sdt-platlog1 add_ds]$ echo 'subscription.rrd' | ./batch.pl 1

ERROR: No <value> tag found

I even tried fixing it but there are more errors after you get past this "No
<value> tag" problem.

Does anyone know of a working script or utility to add a datasource to an
rrd file?

My OS is Red Hat Linux.
