That would mean for every variable rrdtool would deliver only one (1!) value, regardless of the time you'd want to be graphed. But when creating a graph you specify the starttime and endtime , which means rrdtool has to provide values measured in the past...

Does this make sense?

Betreff: [rrd-users] LAST

Hi,

I have run into a problem with aggregating lots of RRD files and getting
a LAST result. I think I may have corrupted some of my RRD's.

I am creating an aggregate summary graph of lots of switch port inocts
and outocts.
Using rrdcgi I am adding up all the ports and creating a single
agregate switch traffic graph.
This has been working fine up until recently when we had one of our
switches go bezerk and
I had to remove some spikes manually by dumping the rrd's to text and
removing all the +08's
and +09's from the files.
Now as a result of this the graphs look okay (the AREA is fine) but the
LAST reading does
not match the AREA ??

Does the CDEF: LAST do anything other than get the last reading of each
RRD ?
or is there anyway of checking the figures in an RRD are consistent ?

thanks
Steve
