Updating with "unknowns" is also updating!  If there really is no update,
either you get errors or you never call the update script.

> rrdtool update /home/geoffeg/rrdscripts/eth0.rrd N:$rx:$tx

Check parameters for above line.  For instance, duplicate the
line and prefix one with "echo" so you can examine what's happening.

This should get you started on debugging.
