Thanks Tobi, I've gotten it straightened out. 
Just curious, should the latest RRDs have been installed as part of the 
RRDtool 1.2.12 install? Is it a separate loading process (I wasn't the one 
who did it on our system)? Just curious how they could have gotten out of 
sync.

make sure you have RRDs.pm matching your rrdtool installation ...
