[rrd-users] can't sanity-check rrdtool with sample data ... please help

RRDtool behaviour is well documented.  You have selected a step
size of 86400, so every timestamp is a whole multiple of 86400.

If you want some other timestamp, you will have to use another
step size.  Try a step size of 3600.
