Why type of system is it?

If its packages based, something like CentOS or Redhat, you are probably missing the pangocairo-devel package or similar.

     I am trying to compile
RRD 1.4.2 on a 64 bit machine. We are using pkgsrc for this.

The bmake install ends with the following
error:

* I could not find a working copy of pangocairo. Check
config.log for hints on why

  this is the case. Maybe you need to set LDFLAGS
and CPPFLAGS appropriately

  so that compiler and the linker can find libpango-1.0
and its header files. If

  you have not installed pangocairo, you can
get it either from its original home on

     http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/sources/pango/1.17

  You can find also find an archive copy on

     http://oss.oetiker.ch/rrdtool/pub/libs

  The last tested version of pangocairo is 1.17.

       LIBS=-lcairo -lcairo -lcairo
-lm  -lcairo -lpng12   -lglib-2.0   -lpangocairo-1.0 -lpango-1.0
-lcairo -lgobject-2.0 -lgmodule-2.0 -lglib-2.0

   LDFLAGS=-L/usr/lib64 -Wl,-R/usr/lib64
-Wl,-R/usr/pkg/lib -L/usr/X11R6/lib64 -Wl,-R/usr/X11R6/lib64 -L/usr/pkg/lib
  -Wl,-R/usr/pkg/lib   -L/usr/pkg/lib   -Wl,-R/usr/pkg/lib
  -L/usr/pkg/lib   -Wl,-R/usr/pkg/lib

  CPPFLAGS=-I/usr/pkg/include -I/usr/include
-I/usr/pkg/include/freetype2 -DXTHREADS -I/usr/pkg/include/cairo -I/usr/pkg/include/libpng12
-I/usr/pkg/include/pixman-1 -I/usr/pkg/include/freetype2 -I/usr/pkg/include
-I/usr/X11R6/include   -I/usr/pkg/include/glib/glib-2.0 -I/usr/pkg/lib/glib-2.0/include
  -DXTHREADS -I/usr/pkg/include/pango-1.0 -I/usr/pkg/include/cairo
-I/usr/pkg/include/glib/glib-2.0 -I/usr/pkg/lib/glib-2.0/include -I/usr/pkg/include/pixman-1
-I/usr/pkg/include/freetype2 -I/usr/pkg/include -I/usr/pkg/include/libpng12
-I/usr/X11R6/include

However, pangocairo is installed on
the system, but seems like it is not looking at the correct path or something
like that.

Any suggestions on what can be wrong
and how it might be fixed?

Thanks in Advanced!

Best Regards!

José Oscar Olivares Ocampo
