[rrd-users] crystal reports and rrd

Resurrecting an old post, here.  Turns out I have the same question.

I'm learning about rrd, but know I will need to get Nagios data into Crystal
Reports.

Our Crystal Reports guru says our Version 10 is not great with XML input.

In other posts, I see mention of using rrdfetch or rrddump (or rrdxport?)
and then running the output through a perl script to convert to CSV.

Does that sound like the best way?
