Don't suppose you remember where you read that ?

RRD doesn't do *anything* with filesystems (apart from storing it's RRDs of course). There will be <something> between RRD and the filesystem you want to collect/graph data for. Whether that <something> is an existing package (which may have it's own limitations) or your own script is up to you.
