[rrd-users] cross versions restore failed

Hi list!

I did dump using RRDtool 1.2.30 and attempt to restore using ver. RRDtool
1.4.7 - both are different architectures, however the process failed at:

rrdtool restore 123.xml 123.rrd
123.xml:922781: parser error : Input is not proper UTF-8, indicate encoding
!
Bytes: 0xFF 0xFF 0xFF 0xFF
			 <row><v> N?????????????????????
			                                                        ^
ERROR: line 922781: expected a value but found a <v> element

UTF-8 localization is set well, and the affected row (checked using less)
has nothing obviously different than other rows.

can you give me some hint what can be cause of the issue or it is cross
version problem?
