Actually, pinging "dumb" devices like routers and switches and
Novell servers (and anything else that doesn't have perl on it)
Smokeping functions like a standalone thing.

But, there is a really cool client that get's mailed by smokeping (that's what the smokemail config is for) to a client workstation (something
that can run a perl script - NT, unix, etc) that turns smokeping
into a client server program. That's where the uptime thing
comes in. I'm not sure if you can run the client program on the
same box as the smokeping host program. I have a feeling you
can't, but one never knows...

I'm going to start playing around with the client program tomorrow.

Psul,

I am not sure what you call the client as I don't see SmokePing to be
a client/server program, but a kind of standalone thing.

But anyway, I do run smokeping on one machine, so how could I ask it
to display uptime for that one machine? There is no indication
anywahere I could find out.

It needs a .adr file somewhere I can see, but I don't even know what
is this file.
