The text for what the probe does seems to be housed in 
Smokeping.pm (somewhat).  That should be something that 
is loosely tied to the probe, not the Smokeping.pm, right?
IOW, I'm trying to write a probe, using FPing as a guide, that 
uses something other than ICMP ECHO pings.  I would like to 
say that in the bottom of the graph, but can't due to how 
that piece of the code is written.  

Or does it make sense to leave it like it is, but have something 
that can override it if found in the new probe?  As in if you put 
no text in for what the probe is, it assumes the default x ICMP 
ECHO pings every y seconds.

The median_rtt color works perfect.  It's just the detail loss_color 
that blows up.
